Samsung adds free repairs and more to its smartphone subscription plan

Samsung adds free repairs and more to its smartphone subscription plan

Samsung introduced a smartphone subscription service in South Korea last year, and it quickly gained traction among buyers of its high-end devices. Ahead of the launch of the Galaxy S26 series, the company is upgrading the program with more benefits, including a new three-year plan, expanded insurance coverage, and additional financial protection.

New Galaxy AI Subscription Club pricing

The service, called the New Galaxy AI Subscription Club, now includes a three-year option alongside the existing one-year and two-year plans. The monthly subscription fee is 6,900 KRW (~$5.20) for both the one-year and two-year plans. The three-year plan costs 8,900 KRW (~$6.70) per month.

Under the new structure, customers who subscribe for three years can return their device at the end of the term and receive 25 percent of the phone’s original value, based on Samsung.com pricing at the time of purchase.

For comparison, customers on the one-year plan can receive 50 percent of the phone’s value when they return it, while those on the two-year plan are eligible for 40 percent. The higher return value on shorter plans reflects the device’s lower depreciation over time.

Loss and theft protection, free repairs, and free battery replacement

Samsung has also expanded coverage under the program by including Samsung Care+ with Theft and Loss protection. This means subscribers are eligible for compensation if their device is lost or stolen, in addition to coverage for accidental damage. The plan also includes repair benefits, battery replacement, and on-site repair support for the duration of the subscription period. Theft and loss claims are typically limited to a certain number per year and may involve a deductible, depending on the terms of coverage.

Even after the subscription term ends, customers who choose to keep their device can continue receiving Samsung Care+ benefits for up to four years from the original purchase date, subject to separate fees and eligibility requirements.

Additional benefits

In addition to device protection, Samsung is adding financial safeguards. Subscribers are eligible for compensation of up to KRW 3 million in cases of cyber financial crimes, such as phishing, smishing, hacking, or pharming. The company is also offering compensation of up to KRW 500,000 for losses resulting from online marketplace scams or internet shopping fraud.

Samsung is also introducing an upgrade benefit for existing members. Those who purchased a Galaxy S25 series device through the New Galaxy AI Subscription Club last year can upgrade to an eligible upcoming Galaxy device (such as the Galaxy S26) and receive the first three months of subscription at no cost.

In addition, they will receive a one-year Samsung Fire 365 Travel Insurance policy free of charge. With these additional benefits, Samsung is positioning the subscription club as a comprehensive high-end smartphone ownership program.
